About Mike:

Michael Sands graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor in Business Administration with a major in Finance. He spent 20 years in the financial services and insurance industry, specializing in Aviation Insurance.

Along with maintaining currency as a line Captain, Mr. Sands holds the title Director of Safety at Journey Aviation. In this role Mr. Sands chairs the in-house Safety Management System program.

Prior to joining Journey Aviation, Mr. Sands acted as Chief Pilot and Operations Manager for a Part 91 Operation of eight corporate aircraft. Mr. Sands is a seasoned Part 135, on demand Captain currently flying the Gulfstream IVSP, Gulfstream V and Gulfstream 550

René has a degree in journalism from Ohio University and serves as the VP of Communications on the International Aviation Women’s Association Board.
