The Global 5000 was announced by Bombardier in late 2001 and has been in continuous production since 2004, offering a winning combination of safety, speed, range and comfort. While it is now almost 20 years since the aircraft was first revealed to the market, it continues to hold a strong presence in the ultra-long-range market.


Recent customers of this popular model include charter provider TAG Aviation, and, at the time of writing, 238 Global 5000s had been produced over the years (per JETNET, April 2022).

What features does the Bombardier Global 5000 offer?


The Global 5000 aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710-A2-20 turbofan engines. When the model first entered service, it used the same Honeywell avionics as the Global Express. But Bombardier subsequently upgraded the avionics. Models built from 2012 onwards incorporate the Bombardier Vision Flight Deck.


The maximum range of the Global 5000 is 5,400nm with eight passengers on board, and the top speed is Mach 0.89.


What came before and after the Bombardier Global 5000?


The Global 5000 is based on the Global Express, which was launched about a decade earlier. The Global Express is somewhat larger, providing more cabin room, and has greater range.


Compared with the original Global Express, Bombardier shortened the fuselage and removed a fuel tank in the Global 5000, all the while leaving plenty of room in a cabin that typically carries up to 13 passengers, and can be adapted for as many as 17.


While it continues to produce the Global 5000, Bombardier unveiled the 5,700nm Bombardier Global 5500 in 2018, bridging the range gap between the Global 5000 and the larger Global 6000 model. Utilizing Rolls-Royce BR710 Pearl engines for greater fuel efficiency, the Global 5500 offers greater hot and high performance and range.
