FAQs: Bombardier Global Express Jets for Sale

Here are the most Frequently Asked Questions for Bombardier Global Express Jets for sale
  • How much does a Bombardier Global Express cost?

The Bombardier Global Express costs between $9m for a 1999 model aircraft, up to $12m for a 2005 model, according to Aircraft Bluebook’s Spring 2022 data. The exact cost of specific models will be driven by several factors specific to an aircraft serial number, including its maintenance condition and log books.

  • What competes with the Bombardier Global Express?

Like the Bombardier Global Express, the Gulfstream GV was launched in the late 1990s helping establish the ultra-long-range jet segment. The GV has a maximum range of 6,500nm, and can carry up to 16 passengers in standard seating configuration.

  • What makes the Bombardier Global Express stand out?

The Global Express shares several similarities with the earlier CRJ line and the Challenger 600. However, what really stands out about this jet is that it was a pioneer among ultra-long-range business jets, becoming one of the first to provide operators with a comfortable, quick platform for intercontinental travel.

  • What is the difference between the Bombardier Global Express, Global 5000, and Global 6000?

Bombardier initially expanded its Global Express line with the Global 5000 aircraft, which was announced in 2001. The aircraft is a shorter-range and slightly smaller version of its predecessor. The company then announced the Global Express XRS in 2003, which featured an increased range and improved cabin. Further improvements, including a new Bombardier Vision avionics suite and redesigned cabin were introduced in 2012, when production began on the Bombardier Global 6000. With a range of 6,000nm (travelling at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers), the Global 6000 aircraft is aimed at customers seeking to combine comfort with fast, intercontinental travel.

Bombardier Global Express Jet Overview

By Gerrard Cowan- Editor, Aircraft Reviews

The original Global Express was announced in 1991, eventually entering service in 1999. It is usually configured to carry 13 passengers, and provides a range of 6,125nm.

The Canadian company manufactured 150 Global Express aircraft, the vast majority of which remain in service today. Over the years, the aircraft has secured a wide range of customers, from jet charter specialists, to celebrities, corporations, and other VIPs.

What features does the Bombardier Global Express offer?

While the Global Express shares its fuselage cross-section with the company’s former Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) platforms and the Challenger 600, the aircraft has an advanced wing design and winglets, along with Rolls-Royce BR710-A2-20 turbofan engines and a Primus 2000 XP EFIS avionics suite.

For the latest market data and full specification information for the Bombardier Global Express jet, view the live data feeds on this page from aviation’s leading data providers - Aircraft Blue Book, JETNET, Conklin & de Decker and Asset Insight.

What came before and after the Bombardier Global Express?

The Bombardier Global Express is the first jet in the series. As highlighted, the acquisition of Canadair in the 1980s opened new avenues for Bombardier in the business jet market, notably through the acquisition of the Challenger 600 line, which was typically designed for between nine and 12 passengers and became the basis for the CRJ100 and CRJ200.

The Global 5000 eventually replaced the original Global Express, and has a shorter fuselage and range, while retaining plenty of cabin space to comfortably carry 13 passengers.
